Toneri Studio
Cross-Cultural Business and Creative Support between Japan and the World
My family runs a rice farm, and the house where I grew up is surrounded by rice fields and farmland. After the paddies are flooded and the rice seedlings are planted, summer nights are filled with the lively sound of frogs.
In the garden stands an orange sweet osmanthus tree. Someone in my family had placed a turban shell, left over from a barbecue, among its branches. Then one day, a little frog appeared and settled neatly on top of it.
A frog from the rice fields, a tree in the garden, and a turban shell unexpectedly came together to create this photograph.
The contrast between the frog’s vivid green and the tiny orange flowers was striking. Unexpected encounters and unlikely combinations can give rise to something new and interesting. That idea is closely connected to what Toneri Studio values.

Toneri — Walking Alongside Curiosity, Connecting Unexpected Worlds
Toneri (舎人/とねり) is an ancient Japanese word that once described a trusted companion who served with sincerity, integrity, and deep dedication.
At Toneri Studio, that spirit continues—not simply by supporting from behind, but by walking alongside others, helping bridge differences in culture, customs, and language, and connecting them with unexpected possibilities.
The Toneri Studio logo features the word “とねり” in hiragana, drawn with soft, flowing lines that echo the rhythm of Latin script. The design brings Japanese writing and a global visual sensibility together in a single form.
A business question, an idea that crosses cultures, or a project that does not fit neatly into one category—feel free to get in touch.
